Biographie
Georges Teyssot (né à Paris) a enseigné l’histoire et la théorie de l’architecture à l’IUAV (Venise, Italie); à l’École d’Architecture de l’Université de Princeton (NJ, USA); ainsi que dans le GTA (Institut de Théorie et d’Histoire) au sein du Département d’Architecture de l’ETH (École polytechnique) à Zurich (CH). Il est professeur titulaire à l’École d’Architecture de l’Université Laval de Québec (QC, CA). Parmi les publications traduites en douze langues, on retiendra : Interior Landscape (New York : Rizzoli, 1988); Die Krankheit des Domizils. Wohnen und Wohnbau, 1800-1930 (Wiesbaden : Vieweg, 1989). Avec Monique Mosser, il a dirigé l’ouvrage collectif, Histoire des Jardins. De la Renaissance à nos jours, (Cambridge, MA : The M.I.T. Press, 1991; Milan : Elemond, 1990, 1992, 2000; Paris : Flammarion, 1991, 2002; Stuttgart : DVA, 1993; Londres/New York : Thames and Hudson, 1991, 2000, 2002). Il introduit le volume: Diller + Scofidio, Flesh: Architectural Probes (New York : Princeton Architectural Press, 1995 ; reprint, 2011). Commissaire avec Diller + Scofidio d’une exposition sur: Surface du quotidien. La pelouse américaine au CCA à Montréal (1998), il dirige l’ouvrage sur The American Lawn (New York : Princeton Architectural Press, 1999). Récemment, il publie : une anthologie de ses essais en collaboration avec l’Université de Coimbra en portugais (Lisbonne : Edições 70, 2010) ; un livre sur Walter Benjamin. Les maisons oniriques (Paris : Hermann, 2013) ; ainsi qu’un volume en anglais intitulé A Topology of Everyday Constellations (Cambridge, MA : The M.I.T. Press, 2013), dont il a édité la version française Une topologie du quotidien, (Lausanne, CH : PPUR, 2016).
